How long have you been volunteering with Adopt A Senior ?
Our volunteering experience with the Seniors for the past 8 years, has been so rewarding and inspiring.
Why is it so important for you both to volunteer with the Seniors?
Seniors living in long-term care facilities feel a sense of isolation and loneliness. Not all Seniors have the benefit of loved ones to check on them.
What is your favorite part about volunteering with the Seniors?
By visiting the Seniors during the year, especially during the holidays, brings them such joy. Just a hug or a small gift goes such a long way and makes them so happy. It is extremely gratifying knowing we have brought laughter and pleasure to their life.
Any other comments you want to share?
We have been fortunate to work with the Adopt-A-Senior Organization, who are the best at what they do, and recommend them to anyone interested in making a difference.

How did you get involved with the Adopt A Senior organization?
I got involved when I was 4 years old and started volunteering with my Mom at Kateri Residence. I would go to the Residence and help the Seniors with a monthly Arts & Crafts program that my Mom (Jill) was Co-Chairing with Annye.
Are you nervous being around the Seniors?
No, I never even thought to be nervous. I love going there. The Seniors are happy to see me and I am happy to see them.
What is your favorite part of the Adopt A Senior program?
I get to talk to the Seniors, many who may not have any family or visitors. I assist with handing out the gifts. If any of the Seniors need help, I read the cards to them and also help them to open up their gifts.

How have you been volunteering with Adopt A Senior?
I got involved with Adopt A Senior about 8 years ago but have been working with them for the past 5 years. My Mom's friend, Jill O'Toole, was the one who got me involved.
Are you nervous being around the Seniors?
No, I have never been nervous whenever I am around the Seniors. I love going to see them and just talking with them.
What is your favorite part of the Adopt A Senior program?
My favorite part of the Adopt A Senior Program is being able to talk to the Seniors. I love how I am able to just go and talk to someone new and make their day. Some of the Seniors do not get any visitors so just being able to talk to them makes my day. Also, I love when we are preparing the gifts because I try to make the gifts special for each one of them.
